Singing and Sparkle at Down Hall Country House Hotel

In April I had the honour of being chosen to do the Wedding Hair and makeup for the lovely Hayley and her wedding party at the prestigious Down Hall Hotel near Bishop Stortford in Essex.

They were one of the funniest and warmest wedding parties i’ve ever worked with. My good friend Kelly came to help with the bridesmaids hair and i did all the makeup and Hayleys Wedding hair. We both just fell in love with these yorkshire ‘lases’. Our sides hurt from laughing when they left us to go and get ready and we felt all warm and fuzzy inside like the buzz you get from a night out with your closest girlfriends.

This warmth and love shone through the whole wedding. But not content with the sparkle from their love this bride to be decided to dazzle by having Swarovski Crystals put through her hair (a little squeal just escaped, remembering how much i LOVED this look). A little idea I stole from the Disney Cinderella film. And what girl doesn’t want to be a princess on her big day.

What Hayley Said

This one is a nice snap from the evening when Gordon changed into his traditional Ghanian outfit! You can see the sparkles in my hair too!

My favourite moment was actually at this point in the evening. We had a whole African section in the playlist and all of Gordon’s family got up on the dance floor and made a circle around us and were all singing, it was like having a live choir in the reception – it was just magical – everyone who came to the wedding said the same thing, you could feel the happiness and love in the room, it was a moment I’ll never forget.

I loved seeing the room for the first time too, I wanted to create a really romantic feel with the lights and candle light and I was really pleased with how it all came together. You have a vision in your mind of how you want it to look and it was amazing to see it all come to life.

There’s so many highlights but everyone just kept saying that it was just a very happy wedding – everyone was smiling all day and it was full of love – but I suppose all weddings bring that out in everyone don’t they!

A Lovely Thank You from Jo’s Wedding

What a lovely Thank you email I just received from Jo. Who Married at the gorgeously grand Hengrave Hall near Bury st Edmunds on the 11th of september 2015. We did hair and makeup for the entire bridal party, Jo her 5 maids and her mum. It was a super fun morning and I had the help of the lovely Michelle Smith to help with the bridesmaids hair whilst I was doing hair and makeup for Jo. Not only has Jo sent such a lovely thank you she also shared these beautiful images by Justin Bailey of her getting ready from her wedding day. I think this captures the fun of the wedding morning beautifully. I hope you like them …

Hi Michelle,

I hope you are well. I just wanted to let you know how amazing you and Michelle were on my wedding day. My hair and make up looked absolutely stunning and I had so many compliments on it all day. It made such a difference to my confidence and I felt so gorgeous thanks to you.

My bridesmaids and mum all looked beautiful and we had such amazing fun with you both on the day. I cant believe how much you both accomplished in such a short time. You must have been exhausted!!

Finally thanks for all the extra help you both gave me in getting into my dress! I don’t know how we would have managed without you both. You were both brilliant at keeping me calm despite me getting very stressed towards the end. lol.

I’m a Finalist!!

I’m absolutely delighted to announce that I am a finalist again for the 2nd year in a row for the Essex Wedding Awards.

I entered for best Make-up Artist again this year and for the 1st year Hair Stylist and I’ve been shortlisted in both categories. I couldn’t be happier. I’ve worked so hard this year and being recognised for an award is just amazing. I’m one lucky lady!

I can’t thank all my brides enough! Thank you to all those who have written such lovely reviews, sent me their wedding pictures and looked gorgeous! Thank you for helping me make finalist again this year! I’m really looking forward to enjoying the glitzy award Ceremony in the luxurious Quendon Park with the Hubby at the end of November. I’ll keep you all  posted!
